Motorcycle pegs

16 June 2016 - 04:18 AM

A bit cliche, but a few cube twist motorcycle foot pegs I made recently out of 1" stock, for an order. Been having a bit of a mess in my personal life, so I've been locked up creatively, and the first thing I've made in about a month. Plus, kinda cool that they'll be going on a motorcycle. (motorcycles? not sure.)

Recent projects

As usual falling behind, then putting a bunch of pics on. Some feel inadequately artsy to me, but better to have imposter syndrome than Kruger Dunning...

Some of these I've made a LOT more of, and to be fair, the sword is an old project I recently dug out and decided to finish.

Not the usual horseshoe knife

More like a scrap metal friction folder really, but nifty. Handle is random outta the scrap bucket horseshoe, shortened a bit and shaved down on the inside to lighten it. Blade is 5160-ish spring scrap. Mid-carbon oil quench steel with a little chrome in it, anyways.

Middle rivet (peened copper pin, scrap 8 gauge wire I believe) pulls the end closed springily, so it pinches the blade a little, with no wiggle.

More openers

I've been making a lot of these lately. It started with somebody asking me directly if I could make one from one they saw on the internet, and me changing things enough that I don't think I'm plagarizing.  Different twists, different style harpoon/wax scorer, etc.

I don't know the blacksmith that made the original style ones, but I see them on craft beer sites with an acorn maker's mark on them. Here's a few of mine anyways.

Nothing fancy, just playing with a design somebody asked for. Hadn't played much with rubik's twist before. Less art than craft perhaps, but fun.
