About Me

My name is David Masse and my Smithy is located in the coastal town of picturesque Kittery, Maine. I have been blacksmithing for over ten years and working with metal since high school. I am mainly self taught with some formal blacksmith, welding and pencil training. I take a lot of my inspiration from the environment around me. Most of my work is made using metals from the local scrap yard. I use a combination of new and traditional techniques and tools. One of my friends designed my smithy and then with his help and some other good friends we built it out of locally harvested and milled hemlock. My shop is still a work in progress as I have my 1978 FLH hanging from the ceiling. It seems to me even after building a 16'X 28' two story shop I still like working outside. My focus as of late has been more sculptural in nature with more and more sheet metal forming.
