Thanks everyone! Glen, as usual you out-do yourself with your answers, and yes, I spent an hour just cutting out small test squares to use from now on.. Patience is a virtue I suppose [Groovy] Shawn, I will try those solvent dyes.. I looked on your website, and noticed a few pics there.. Awesome! I just love your work!
Tony, I tried what you said, and you are very right! Build up the colour so it looks like an Easter egg, and then spray it, and it looks decent.

Thanks again!

In Topic: Copper/ Brass/ Bronze flakes - make coatings yourself?

Hi,

Wow, so overstimulated, but thank you! I will re-read your posts in a bit so I can absorb it all. Here is a link to the metal powders I found. As you can see they are substantial amounts for the price.. I found their website to be difficult to navigate finding the metal powders, but under their search button, just type in copper, brass or whatever metal powder and it will show up.

In Topic: "Chalky" Patina??

21 January 2010 - 09:57 PM

Thanks Glen, I will try the vinegar for sure.
Tony - yes, I do have some Universal Patinas from Sculpt N. and I have just now figured out how to use them and make them look half decent. At first I thought it was glorified paint, but I now see how they have to be layered with different colours to make it look like a "real" Patina. So, now I know some methods to get the galvanizing off, or leave it on and do a "fake" patina.

Thanks again!

Thanks guys,

Tony, I believe your right.. it must be coming from the galvanizing.. I hate the stuff, but I have a ton of things cut out from the plasma in this satin coat, so I am trying to make the most of it. Its looking like it can only be painted[Mad]

Thanks again!
