Someone came in my shop awhile back and asked if I did any art. I said it was all art that I did and she said it had to be useless if it was to be called art. I disagreed, went ahead and made some. It is not useless because it is nice to look at, and that makes it usefull. Anyway, here it is. Actually I saw it on facebook and liked it, so thought I would try it. It is rusted in a plastic bag and came out with a neat pattern on it.

I agree with you. There is no such thing as non funtional artwork. It all has some function. Make you smile, make you frown, etc.

I like the pieces. Nice contrast. Would you share the rust process?

I fully agree. There is art in each and every item that was made with attention to how it looks, wether it is a ceramic bowl, a knife or a sculpture.Nice work. It looks like the last birds leaving the planet.Posted Image

I cleaned the metal with muriatic acid, left it on the metal and put it in a plastic bag for 24 hrs. The piece that looks like a tree on it just happened. I took it out and washed it off, and put a couple coats of clear laquer on it.

Thanks, Stretch. No brushing of it or anything to try to control it some?

Nice work, I like the simplicity of it. I also believe that all art is functional or as I put it, it is entertainment.
