I agree with you. There is no such thing as non funtional artwork. It all has some function. Make you smile, make you frown, etc.
I like the pieces. Nice contrast. Would you share the rust process?
I cleaned the metal with muriatic acid, left it on the metal and put it in a plastic bag for 24 hrs. The piece that looks like a tree on it just happened. I took it out and washed it off, and put a couple coats of clear laquer on it.
