That is going to be outstanding when finished. Great work.

This sculpture has been kicking my butt! I didn't work on it for a while due to other commitments, but over the Christmas break, I decided I was going to knock out as much of it as I could. Well, I didn't get completely done, but I got all the panels put on and got started on the cleanup. Finished the basic cleanup today. Next, we wanted to figure out where it was going to ultimately go, so we put the forks on the big tractor, loaded it up, and toted it around the yard. We must have tried 10 different places and finally settled on one that we both liked (at one end of the pool enclosure). It'll be visible from inside the house as well as anywhere around the pool deck or back porch. Now Jim can do "site prep" while I put a patina and clear coat on it.

Great work Shawn!

That looks like lots of work,( and very nice) I can only guess how the patina queen is going to finish it. It is cool watching all the different stuff you've made and all the different processes you've learned and applied. A lot of people have a certain process or style they stick to, but you seem to keep expanding and doing all sorts of things. I would of never imagined you making a project like this when I first joined. Its very cool [Beer]

Thanks guys...Saign, I'm not sure what possessed me to start a project this big. I never say never, but never again! Well, if someone paid me huge sums of money, maybe Posted Image but I think somewhat smaller projects are more to my taste. This one took up a big chunk of resources, both in terms of my time and patience, but also in terms of real estate in the shop that we constantly had to walk around. So we're glad it's about done.

As far as the patina, I'm not 100% sure on it yet but it will have color. I have a couple of ideas in mind and will consult w/Jim, after all it is his sculpture Posted Image It might be one of those things where I just get started on it and see where it goes.

I finally got some half-way decent shots of the torus. It's been finished and mounted for over a month. The lighting is tricky in this location.

That looks awesome! Very nicely done! Posted Image

What you have to do is to think that each leg, foot, ear or whatever is a separate sculpture and all together make the finish piece.

Pretty darn cool! Great location you can float and enjoy. Nice way of the texturing and color.

One more shot, this one with an azalea in full bloom.

Thanks for all the compliments. I was sick of working on it towards the end, but now it looks so nice out there that I am glad I did it after all.

Looking great Shawn. How did you succeed to grow an azalea that fits exactly the color of the torus?
