Warning Level

I have been regularly visiting and posting on this forum for a long time. I don't post very often but I visit daily.
Today I tried to change my avatar by uploading (not referencing a URL but just uploading) a photo. My description now includes a WARNING LEVEL. What have I done wrong?
I am no neophyte at uploading photos to forums or computers (I have built many computers). I find this a bit disconcerting.........

Everyone has a warning level, it's usually 0%.

If your avatar was too large it might not upload. I know it says it will resize it automatically but I'm not so sure that works every time.
Try resizing it smaller:
The maximum dimensions for avatars are: 200x200 pixels.
The maximum file size for avatars is 100 KB.
If you continue to have problems try emailing it to me and I'll see if I can upload it tonight when I get home.

You should let everyone know about the warning level only showing on your own post.
Re: my avatar. Since it said it would resize I sent a big one. Once I saw it didn't work I resized, moved and renamed the jpg. It still doesn't work.......

Matt,
I have no problem with the avatar I uploaded last year..... I just can't change it today.
I see...you are trying to upload a new one right? Do you get an error message? How big is the image? The forum restricts images over 200x200.

I read that it would re-size the image so I uploaded a big one. I got no error message but it didn't work. So I resized the image to 150 X 200, renamed it and moved it. I uploaded this image and it also didn't work, again no error message.
ShawnM tried it and also couldn't make it work.
Someone else wrote in and said we would have to wait for you. Here you are and this is a synopsis of the above thread.

I didn't try to upload it - I said "send it to me and I'll try it tonight when I get home"...I'm not home yet

I am sorry for causing such a problem here!
I assumed that PTsideshow's comment...
"I believe it has been turned off temporarily, during the change over. what people can do and can't do on the forum has changed since the software is being reset. It 'll have to wait till Matt get up out west."
...was correct and that there was a system problem. My new avatar is attached. I am pretty sure I was doing everything correctly (except for sending a large photo, but if that is a fatal error it shouldn't say it will re-size it).

I don't see an avatar at all on my posts, and when I go to "User CP" where it says "Welcome back, meincer" (that is where I go to view/edit my profile right?) it shows my old avatar (a welded sculpture of a man with a wrench).
