sealing patina
I recently made may daughter a copper bracelet:

The bracelet was patina'd with liver of sulpher then I applied Johnson's pastewax on top to seal the patina. Problem is after wearing it for a few hours, she's getting black on her wrist. I guess this is the liver of sulpher rubbing off on her wrist. I thought the wax would seal it.....I guess it does on things taht don't get handled much but on something with lots of contact, you just rub the wax right off.....then the patina.

Is this a good time to use a lacquer?

Thanks,
Walker

RE: sealing patina
walker,

Hopefully someone who does jewelry will answer this. I'm not sure how Permalac or other lacquers react to skin oils and contact with skin in general, but I would guess that it would be better than having patina rub off on her skin! I would give it a try.

Yup! I'm keeping my big mouth shut on this one too. I have no idea what the jewelry folks do to seal a patina.
