Here is my newest commission in the work.
Three different height arcs with different length bells.
8 foot with a 5 foot bell, 7 foot with a 4 foot bell and a 6 foot with a 3 foot bell.
Just getting started but here is a peek...
Looks cool so far...where do you get the tanks for your bells, Kevin?
Hi Shawn;
I get my cylinders from a testing facility here in town.
The have hundreds a day that pass through there. The ones that fail wind up out back and get sent to the scrap yard. They are nice enough to sell to us crazy folk for our work. They even have a guy who makes canons out of them.
That's really nice. Makes me want to do another large piece for my yard. Thanks for the pic! Spears.
Looking good, Kevin. Glad that trip to Thailand didn't change your artistic/creative outlook!!!
Boy, you mention wanting failed gas cylinders around here at the Praxair or Airgas distributors, and you get the feeling that the next knock on your door will be big Janet N. and the boys dressed all in black with really big guns.
Dave
Hi David;
Yeah, the trip to Thailand was an awesome way to get my mind back where it belonged. I just have a really strong urge to make a gong or two.
As for the cylinders, do you have a testing facility around you somewhere? Ask at Praxair where to have a tank tested. They should know of some place.
Yours in rust
Kevin
Kevin,
Glad the trip was inspirational; Praxair sends all their cylinders to Charlotte, NC, for testing, which is a bit of a drive from the Edge of America. I have a big stack/pile of SCUBA type tanks from the Fire Dept., but most of them are aluminium and make more of clunk than a ring tone. What I'd really like to find would be some the smaller medical oxygen sized cylinders.
Take care,
Dave
How many do you want?
What do you want to pay for them?
I will check with my guy and get back to you.
