This is a form I've been working out. It's one sheet of metal, copper, fold formed to yield this twig of bamboo. Total length of this experimental piece is 5 inches. Brad [attachment=11333][attachment=11334][attachment=11335]
Beer very interesting, looks good Beer
Peace!
Looks great, Brad.
I'd say you got the BAM and the BOO......
keep that up and we're gonna need a fold forming PLAYDAY.
nudge nudge wink wink
Beer
Yes to a Fold Form-A- Ree, but no strange initiation rites involving flagellation with bamboo, real or otherwise; not too sure about those nudges and winks either!!!!!!!.

Dave
How does this week through the weekend work for you boys and girls? Let's "those of us that do fold forming, are just beginning, been trying to unfold these things for a while or would like to give it a whack," Show the rest of the kids what we're up or have been doing. This might be the worlds first on line fold- a- thon, form-a-ree, an on line Fold Forming Play Day.
So kids. Stock pile some copper sheet stock for the weekend. Brass or bronze, aluminum, or get reactive with it and go titanium on us. It's not a competition. it's an exhibition, a demonstration of possibilities.
Caution, fold forming has the ability to rapidly develop form. It's addictive! You will go through some metal. It will spark new ways of seeing and doing forms. That's just part of the fun.
Post here. New pieces, to the cool stuff on the other bench. Big big stuff through the small. Finished pieces to inspiring forms, jewelry items, vessels and sculpture, it's all welcome. Pictures, pictures, pictures we love pictures.
Sure we will do some demos.
Post between now and next Monday, Demos and play days Saturday and Sunday. We'll figure this thing out as we go along, rules? Questions feel free to ask the artists.
So clean off the anvil, be prepared to anneal some metal, grab a cross pein, oil up the rolling mill, crank up the thunder machine, don't break the break, and press on mi amigo.
LET'S SEE WHAT UNFOLDS
(Insider joke, for those of you that know me best. Bring a banana!) Brad
Sounds like fun! I don't know what format you have in mind, but if there's something that can be put together beforehand (photos and text), we can use the chat room to present a demo to the whole group, and capture the chat room session for posting on the forum as well. Just one possibility.
Shawn, Format? Hmmm Sure I can do a basic demo with pics and text. when do you think? I'm thinking saturday. I'm sure others will and can do things. This may help to get us started. Fold forming can be used as a decorative feature or to create the form. This small tray 9 inches square does both. all from one sheet of metal. Sometimes fold forming is a little like origami.

another way and the folds themselves become worked edges they make the forms happen..(pure fold forming) like these
[attachment=11351][attachment=11352][attachment=11353]
Once a couple of techniques are developed segments of or combinations of forms start suggesting themselves.

Much more fum to come. Brad
Ah Ha, the mystery unfolds; now to hammer this thing out before more pressing matters combine in a collusion of complex forms. I'm in if Shawn agrees to add colour to the mix!!!!

Dave
Dave, Bravo Chime right on in. I'm hoping Shawn will play, too. the more the merrier. Here's a little form for the dreamers among us.

A little micro maxi multi fold
More to come tomorrow. Brad
Ooh, that last one is cool! I bet you got that corrugation with your roller thingie.

The good thing about using the chat room is that everyone can talk and ask questions at once. The trick is that the material (text, photos) need to be uploaded to MAF beforehand so that they can be zapped out to the chat screen at the allotted time. Or we can just add to an ongoing thread, or do some combination of both.

My Satur-days are usually pretty booked but the evening would probably work!
