Welcome!!
Hi everybody I have been lurking and posting for a while and when I saw that matt was going to have a vendor section I figured I might as well do it since it helps keep the forum going and I might drum up some interest in the stuff I make. I make metalsmithing stakes and hydraulic presses for metalsmiths I also make some hammers and shot bags as well as chasing tools and a few things that are more related to bench jewelers. I sell my stuff through otto frie and my own website I am making a new press right now and I will post some pics of it I also make dies and other tooling for the presses I make the presses in 2 sizes : 20 tons and 50 tons. Any way thanks for all the kind words and check back soon I will get some pics of my shop and some of the tools that I make posted.
Welcome
Hi Kevin. We've talked before through your Orchid blog. I already have a question for you. Do you do custom stamping, that is making a die to order and then producing metal cutouts with that die for the customer?
Hi steve i can do pancake dies but if you need stuff for heavey sheet they are more complex and I need to see exactly what you want to do. by heavey sheet I mean 12guage or more 16 and 14 are no problem, I could stamp some for you are you thinking a few or several hundred.
No heavy sheet, just 22 gauge brass, or I might go even thinner. If I was going to get them stamped, I'd probably want at least a hundred or more. Here's the project I'm thinking about: http://shelbyvision.ganoksin.com/blogs/2...on-a-stem/. It's the hearts I would want stamped out, If it doesn't cost too much. They are about 3-1/4" across, could be more or less. The idea of course is to make them cheaply enough to sell them at a low price and still make a little profit.
Those would be no problem to make do you want to cut them out or just puff them if you want to puff them a silowhet die would be perfect I could make you a larger one than what I have. Do you have a press if so all you need is the urathane and a pusher. I could make a die that cuts them but then you cant puff them I think it would be easier to puff them and them trim them with a beverely shear and then solder them. you could make those real fast with a die and a press.
Maybe this should be split off but... if you're going to use pressure to form something from inside, you should really use fluid NOT air. Air compresses, fluid doesn't (well, very very little), if the material split on what you're pressurizing with air you could have a grenade, with water, a quick squirt.
