Here is the twist I did today. I start with square bar and score all 4 sides[attachment=5358] then twist, the tighter the twist the more diamonds you will have on the piece, on the firetools I did less twists and you can see the difference, the tools[attachment=5359] and the sample[attachment=5360]You will see in the finished sample there are more diamonds in the handle. Here is the twist hammered square again. Make sure the piece is hammered good and square for sharper diamonds. Here it is squared and scored the second time[attachment=5361] Then it is heated evenly again and twisted the opposite direction. Twist until the diamonds line up[attachment=5362] If it is crooked then I use a wooden hammer to straighten it [attachment=5363] Here is the twist in the groove in my anvil block made by straightening twists while hot [attachment=5364] Also here is a twist made in 1 1/2" square bar without the sides being scored, a different softer twist.[attachment=5365] These can be used on a lot of different applications.
